"HPT" has thrilled audiences in venues across the U.S. from California to Kentucky. They have also played festivals in Canada as well as multiple tours in Ireland. Their music is rooted in the "Traditional" with a flair of their own. High Plains Tradition is Doug Elrick on mandolin, Steve Gilmore on guitar, Bobby Vickery on fiddle, Mark Leslie on banjo, and Kenny Pabst on bass. All of the members provide vocals, and the band is much loved for its spine-tingling four-part harmonies. HPT plays a mixture of traditional bluegrass and original songs that capture the "ancient tones" of mountain, country, gospel and old-time folk music. A group of strangers came to Swallow Hill Music in 2010 to learn bluegrass from one of Colorado’s finest acoustic musicians, Martin Gilmore. Somehow, they couldn’t stop playing
