  1. Children One Book 4 Colorado

    April 27, All Day @ 3 Community Park Road

    Every four year old in Colorado will receive their own copy of the same book to keep! Bring your 4 year old to the Children's Library any time between Monday, April 13 & Monday, April 27 to pick up the FREE book; there will be both English and Spanish versions available. This year’s book will be announced on Monday April 13. Lt.Governor Joe Garcia is leading an early literacy initiative so that every child in Colorado is reading at grade level by third grade. One Book 4 Colorado is a fun way to make that happen and support parents as their child's first teacher. If your 4 year is in a preschool program and does not receive this book at school, be sure to come to the library to get one.

Caregivers will be introduced to early literacy skills they can practice with their children to prepare them for successful learning when they enter school. Registration is required.     Preschool Story Time For children 3 - 5 years who can sit on their own Tuesdays 10:30 -11 a.m. or Thursdays 1:30-2 p.m. Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. This program is reserved for children ages three to five who can sit on their own and comfortably participate in a variety of literature based activities geared towards preparing children for learning to read. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required.

  5. Children - Art Stop On the Go

    April 28, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    For ages 6-12, Registration required beginning April 1. Call the Children's Library at 720-887-2315 The Children’s Library and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art have teamed up to bring you several art-making workshops in 2014. Express yourself through a variety of art media, with the emphasis on creativity and fun! This program is made possible by a grant from Scientific and Cultural Facilities District

  6. Teen - Boost Your Brain - Grades 6-12

    April 28, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ the Eisenhower Room, on the 2nd floor of the libra

    Free math and science tutoring. Half hour sessions available every Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm in the Eisenhower Room. This program is free for teens in grades 6-12. Registration is required and may be done at the Teen Zone Desk or by calling the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library Young Adult Department at 720.887.2360.

  9. Confident Parenting: Speaker Series - Helping Your Child Conquer Fears and Anxieties

    April 29, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Eisenhower Room

    For parents, caregivers and adults who work with children. Most children go through stages where they are more fearful or anxious. Some children are more impacted by their worries to the extent that it interferes with their ability to have fun, learn, sleep, or function in their family, school, or other social settings. This presentation will address normal and more severe fears and anxieties and help parents understand brain functions that produce these strong emotions. We will then help parents develop a tool kit to help their children and understand when they need to get outside help. No registration required.     For children newborn - 24 months and a caregiver Thursdays 9:15 - 9:35 a.m. or 10 - 10:20 a.m. An interactive story time focusing on the three "Rs " - Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition. Enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes, and baby sign language – all intended to promote language development and early literacy in a lively and fun atmosphere! Facts on brain development, early literacy and social emotional growth are shared throughout the program. Includes time for adults to socialize and babies to play. No registration required.

  11. Children - Family Story Time

    Family Story Time All ages welcome Thursdays, 10:45 - 11:15 a.m. This program features participatory stories, songs and movement activities geared towards promoting early literacy and building a foundation for a love of books. Age appropriate activities are presented in three segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Transitions are built into the program so younger children can take a break if necessary. Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family! No registration required

  13. Children - A.R.F. Afternoon Reading Fun

    April 30, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Afternoon Reading Fun (ARF!) is a program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children can come to the library to read to a therapy dog trained to listen quietly without correcting or judging. This is especially beneficial to students who are struggling with reading. ARF! is conducted in a relaxing environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Students read one-on-one with the therapy dog without being interrupted by parents, siblings and other adults. Sign-up begins at 3:45 at the Children’s Desk

  14. Teen - Discovery Lab - Ages 9-14

    April 30, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ the first floor of the library, left of the circul

    Explore activities that focus on science and art related subjects. Each session will offer materials for hands-on learning and directional support from an adult or teen volunteer. Some sessions require registration - call the Teen Zone Desk at 720.887.2360 for program details and registration requirements. The Discovery Lab is located on the first floor of the library to the left of the Circulation Desk. Ages 9-14.

  15. Adult- Family Trivia Night!

    April 30, 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM @ Library- Eisenhower Room
