  11. Confident Parenting: Speaker Series - Helping Your Child Develop Resiliency

    March 4, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Eisenhower Room

    This class was rescheduled from February 25. For parents, caregivers and adults who work with children. Simple small disappointments, challenging live events, and sometimes, unavoidable tragedies happen in the course of a child’s life. As much as we parents would like to prevent our children from experiencing pain, things happen that are difficult for our children to emotionally manage. This presentation will help parents teach their children the valuable skill of bouncing back from stressful events and use the lessons learned to be able to handle challenges in the future.   16. Children - A.R.F. Afternoon Reading Fun

    Afternoon Reading Fun (ARF!) is a program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children can come to the library to read to a therapy dog trained to listen quietly without correcting or judging. This is especially beneficial to students who are struggling with reading. ARF! is conducted in a relaxing environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Students read one-on-one with the therapy dog without being interrupted by parents, siblings and other adults. Sign-up begins at 3:45 at the Children’s Desk

    Mining Lab Friday, March 27, 3 - 4 p.m. for grades 3-5, registration required beginning March 1, call the Children's Library at 720.887.2315 for more information Upstairs in the Eisenhower Room. Presented by the Molly Brown House Museum. This new hands on program will allow students to learn about three different types of mining while understanding what life was like in mining camps.  Touchable artifacts will accompany this program such as miner's helmets and gold!

    Preschool Story Time For children 3 - 5 years who can sit on their own Tuesdays 10:30 -11 a.m. or Thursdays 1:30-2 p.m. Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. This program is reserved for children ages three to five who can sit on their own and comfortably participate in a variety of literature based activities geared towards preparing children for learning to read. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required.

  92. Teen - Boost Your Brain - Grades 6-12

    Free math and science tutoring. Half hour sessions available every Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm in the Eisenhower Room. This program is free for teens in grades 6-12. Registration is required and may be done at the Teen Zone Desk or by calling the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library Young Adult Department at 720.887.2360.
