The Boulder Children's Chorale May concert features a Jazz Ensemble, organized by CU faculty, John Gunther. They will play New Orleans style jazz. The children will sing a range of music from folk songs to gospel. Former Chorale Artistic Director, Tim Snyder, has written an original composition in honor of the Children's Chorale 5 year anniversary which we will also premiere. It is called When All the World Is Young. We will invite alumni of the Children's Chorale to sing in Al Shlosha D'Varim which has been performed in Bel Canto 4 of the 5 years and is akin to our anthem. We are also singing The Storm is Passing Over, a popular gospel piece. Our children range in age from grades one through eight.
As a side note:
Goals of the concert are to expose the students to American genres of choral music as well as to expose them to jazz and to the sounds of musical instruments. An additional goal is to expose students to the level of musician provided by professional musicians.
