An interactive story time for babies and toddlers age newborn through 24 months and their parent or caregiver. Enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes, and baby sign language – all intended to promote language development and early literacy in a lively and fun atmosphere! Includes time for adults to socialize and babies to play. Thursdays, 9:15-9:35 a.m. and repeated at 10-10:20 a.m. from September 8 to December 22, 2016. No registration required.

All ages welcome! This program features participatory stories, songs and movement activities geared towards promoting early literacy and building a foundation for a love of books. Age appropriate activities are presented in three segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Transitions are built into the program so younger children can take a break if necessary. Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family! No registration required. A fun and interactive Story Time for children 3 - 5 years who can sit on their own. Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required. Tuesdays, September 6 - December 20, 10:30-11 a.m. And repeated on Thursdays, September 8 - December 22 (except for Thanksgiving), 1:30-2 p.m.

Afternoon Reading Fun (ARF!) is a program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children build confidence and fluency in their reading by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or choose a library book and our dog friends will listen without correcting or judging. This creates a relaxing reading environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Sign-up begins at 3:45 at the Children's Desk the day of the program. Spaces are limited.

Practice your spoken English in the Library's conversation groups. The conversation groups are a fun way to improve your English. These classes are for those who use English as a second language and do not specifically emphasize grammar or vocabulary. Conversation groups meet Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. No registration is needed.

Have fun with your toddler while you play with toys, read and create a craft. Ask community resource professionals questions about early literacy, speech & hearing, physical fitness, nutrition & behavior. The Parent Toddler Workshop is a 5-week program for toddlers ages 18-35 months and their parents or caregivers. Registration is required. You can register online! Toddlers actively participate in stories, music and movement enhancing their social, emotional and language development while fostering a love for reading and books. Caregivers will be introduced to early literacy skills they can practice with their children to prepare them for successful learning when they enter school. It is a 30 minute program for children 21 to 35 months and a caregiver. Toddler time is presented 4 times a week. Mondays: 10-10:30 a.m. and repeated at 10:45-11:15 a.m. or Wednesday: 9:15-9:45 a.m. and repeated at 10-10:30 a.m. There are no drop-ins for Toddler Story Time, registration is required.
