    For children newborn - 24 months and a caregiver. An interactive story time focusing on the three "Rs" - Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition. Enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes and baby sign language -- all intended to promote language development and early literacy in a lively and fun atmosphere! Facts on brain development, early literacy and social emotional growth are shared throughout the program. Includes time for adults to socialize and babies to play. No registration required. This program is repeated on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.

    February 20, 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM @ Children's Library Story Room

    All are welcome at our family Story Time! This program features participatory stories, songs and movement activities geared towards promoting early literacy and building a foundation for a love of books. Age appropriate activities are presented in 3 segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Transitions are built into the program so younger children can take a break if necessary. Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family! No registration required.

  4. Children - Preschool Story Time

    February 20, 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Preschoolers enjoy stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. This program is reserved for children ages 3 - 5 who can sit on their own and comfortably participate in a variety of literature based activities geared towards preparing children for learning to read. Asking children to attend without their caregivers helps to develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. No registration required.Stop at the Children's Desk for a name tag and a ticket. This program is repeated on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  5. Children - Confident Parenting, Preventing Challenging Behaviors: Prevention Toolbox

    February 20, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Children's Library Story Room

    Presented by Bal Swan Children's Center. Designed for parents of toddlers and preschoolers. Different behaviors, situations & children all call for different strategies to work with behavior. In this class we well create your new tool box of strategies to help prepare you for all situations. When we have a variety of approaches to work with behavior we begin to feel more confident, calm an not afraid that the behavior will occur. "I can handle this" is what you will begin to say because you will know you have the skills to work with the situation. You will learn a variety of new and practical strategies that you can use at home immediately. Registration begins February 1. Call the Children's Library at 720-887-2315
