American Red Cross Classes
CPR, AED, and First Aid Full Class link
This American Red Cross CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer course will teach individuals how to respond to injuries and sudden illnesses. Emergency action principles, combining adult, child, and infant CPR and other lifesaving techniques, with traditional first aid information and skills are taught. Bring a sack lunch/dinner. Class size must meet a minimum of three participants enrolled or it may be cancelled. Age: 13 years and older. Location: PDRC.

Pre-Lifeguard Training link
Participants learn the duties and responsibilities of becoming a professional lifeguard. This class will introduce you to the guidelines established by the American Red Cross for Lifeguard Training. During the class you work on the following skills: swim 300 yards continuously, swim 20 yards, surface dive to 10 ft, retrieve a 10 lb brick, swim 20 yards with the brick, and exit water within 1 min, 40 seconds. First Aid and CPR skills will be discussed. Upon enrollment into a full Lifeguard Training class with the City and County of Broomfield the registration fee for this class will be applied. For ages 15 years and older.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training link
Learn the duties and responsibilities of becoming a professional lifeguard. This class follows the guidelines established by the American Red Cross. Participants are certified in First Aid, CPR-PR/AED, and Lifeguard Training. To enroll in this class you must be 15 years of age by the last class date. Participants must attend all sessions. There are no exceptions. During the first class you must pass the following skills in order to continue the rest of the course: swim 300 yds continuously; swim 20 yds, surface dive to 10 ft, retrieve a 10 lb brick, swim 20 yds with the brick, and exit water within 1 min, 40 secs. Please note: The Broomfield Aquatics Department begins hiring for the summer 2014 season beginning in February 2014! Please register and take classes accordingly! Age: 15 years and older. Location: BCC. 

Red Cross Re-Certification Classes
These classes are for those who possess the skills and knowledge necessary to meet all the requirements set forth by the American Red Cross and need to renew their certifications. Participants must produce a copy of their current or expired certification at the beginning of the course. If it has been more than one year since your certification has expired, you must sign up for a full course. Participants must bring their own pocket masks. If you do not have a pocket mask, we have them available for purchase for $12. If you need a class but do not see a date that works for you, contact A.J. at 303.460.6948 or .

CPR, AED, and First Aid Re-Certification link
There is a short review; no skills are taught; skill testing only. Participants must successfully complete all skill requirements without assistance as well as pass a written test on the first attempt. Class size must meet a minimum of three participants enrolled or it may be cancelled. Age: 13 years and older. Location: PDRC.

Lifeguard Training Re-Certification link
This class includes Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Participants must be prepared to demonstrate all of their lifeguard skills. Class size must have a minimum of two people enrolled, or it may be cancelled. Age: 16 years and older. Location: BCC.

Drop-In Kayak
Looking to practice rolling your kayak in a safe environment? Just want to paddle around before you can break outdoors? Come and practice your skills in the swimming pool! This is a drop-in program. No pre-registration is necessary.

Guard Start/Junior Lifeguarding
Do you want to be a lifeguard but are not old enough? We have three different classes to keep you busy all year long learning new skills and having fun at the same time! All courses follow the guidelines established by the American Red Cross. Participants who volunteer for at least ten hours receive a t-shirt and a one-month pass that can be used at PDRC. Location: PDRC.

Bronze: Start Here! link
This is an introductory class to basic lifeguarding skills and teaching swimming lessons. Participants learn basic emergency lifesaving, maintenance, rescues, backboarding techniques and what it takes to become a lifeguard. If you have participated in our guard start program in the past, you may skip this class and go on to the Silver Class! Prerequisite: Complete the Dolphin swim class or pass a swim test. Age: 10 - 14 years

Silver: More to learn! link
This class teaches you more fitness, sun safety, and nutrition. This class also teaches you more advanced swim lesson techniques. We work on your strokes to make you a better teacher as well as a better swimmer. Prerequisite: Completion of the Bronze class. For ages 9 - 14 years.

Gold: Rising to the Top! link
This class covers the American Red Cross Community CPR and First Aid training. If participants are able to successfully complete all the skills and pass the test, they may become certified. This class also covers additional lifeguarding and teaching techniques including the Water Safety Instructor Aide course, physical fitness through water games and sports, health and nutrition, and sun protection. Participants receive certification upon successful completion of all skills. Prerequisite: Completion of the Silver class. For ages 10 - 15 years.
