The Paul Derda Recreation Center ...............................
The Paul Derda Recreation Center pool is designed especially for families and children of all ages. It has a leisure pool with a zero depth entry, an octopus slide designed especially for toddlers, an interactive water play structure called gadgets and gizmos, and 3 waterfalls that dump into the pool. Slides and play structures are open during open swim hours only. It features a body slide and an inner-tube slide with a surprise splash at the end. The current channel allows you to relax on an inner-tube or work out by walking against the flow.
There is also a 25-yard, three-lane lap pool available for lap swim, water aerobics, and playtime during busy hours. Finally, when you need a break from all of the excitement, you can relax in either our family hot tub for all ages or our adult only hot tub -a place to escape.
Pool space may be limited due to lessons or water aerobics. A lap lane may or may not be available during the open swim times. PDRC pools close 30 minutes before the building closes.
Safety Checks at PDRC
At 3 p.m., we clear all pools at PDRC for a 20-minute safety check. We will perform safety checks on weekends, holidays, summer, and no-school days. Adults, 18 and older, are allowed to swim in the pool during this time. All slide features and the family hot tub will be closed and turned off during the safety check.

When registering for consecutive sessions of the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim program, we recommend that you sign up for the same class level at least two times. Due to the high demand for swim lessons, we are sorry but cannot guarantee that space will be available for your child to move up or down after your initial registration. We encourage you to talk to the instructor about your child’s progress and utilize the waitlist process whenever possible if classes are full. We will increase classes due to demand and instructor/space availability.
Don’t know which level to sign your child up for? A swim instructor can test your child to determine his/her skill level. Lesson testing can be performed during open swim or limited open swim times at either facility. Please stop in and ask for a pool manager.
