Kids and families can enjoy stories, music and movement while building early literacy and social skills. No registration required. Stop at the Children's Information Desk to pick up a free ticket before each program.  
Baby Story Time Ages: Newborn to 24 months (with caregiver) 
Thursdays from 9:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. and 10 to 10:20 a.m.
An interactive story time focusing on the three "R's" Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition. Baby sign language and research on social emotional growth and brain development are included in a lively and fun atmosphere. 
Toddler Story Time Ages: 21 months to 35 months (with caregiver) 
Mondays 10 - 10:30 a.m. or 10:45 - 11:15 a.m. and Wednesdays 9:15 - 9:45 a.m. or 10 - 10:30 a.m. 
This 25-30 minute program includes age-appropriate stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays that help toddlers develop skills in oral language, listening and motor development while fostering a love of reading and books.
Preschool Story Time Ages: 3 - 5 years. 
Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.  and Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. 
Preschoolers will develop early literacy skills, self-confidence, and curiosity through fun stories and activities. We ask children to attend without their caregivers to help develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school.
Story Time at Paul Derda Rec Center
Third Friday of each month at 11:40 a.m.
Stick around for Story Time for families with children of all ages. Drop in (registration not necessary). Downstairs by the fireplace. *Facility fees may apply
Family Story Time All ages welcome! 
Thursdays 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.
Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family. Age appropriate activities are presented in three segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Transitions are built in so younger children can take a break if necessary.
Story Time Play Date -  All ages welcome, focus is on newborn to pre-K
Fourth Saturday of the month 11-11:45 a.m.
We will explore a story together by reading, talking, singing, playing and writing about the themes and concepts from the book. Leave this program with new ideas for reading and playing together with your children.

Parent Toddler Workshop (Toddlers 18-35 months with an adult) Registration required 
Fridays, 10 - 11:15 a.m. 
The next Parent Toddler Workshop will be in fall 2018.
Junior Book Club (Grades 4-5) Second Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m.
The Junior Book Club is a pre-registered program for kids in grades 4 to 5. Join us every month for a book discussion, snacks and fun! Register in person at the Children's Room desk starting one month in advance of the book club date. When you register, you will be assigned a copy of the book to read and use for the program. This Junior Book Club is limited to 12 participants per month. For more information, please call 720-887-2315. Back in September.
First Friday Make and Take (Two years old and up) 2:30 - 4:15 p.m.
A special craft time for children ages 2 and up and their caregivers. No registration is required and all supplies are provided. Come to the Children's Story Room and start crafting anytime between 2:30 and 4:15 on each designated Friday and make two fun crafts to take home! This event is usually on the first Friday of each month unless otherwise noted on the monthly calendar of events. Art Stop on the GO (ages 6-12) April 24, 4 - 5 pm              
The Children's Library and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art have teamed up to bring you creative and fun art-making workshops. Back in September.

Afternoon Reading Fun (K-grade 5) Thursdays, 4 - 5 p.m. (registration begins at 3:45) 
Sign-in at the Children’s Information Desk on program days. Our dog friends can't wait to hear you read! Students in kindergarten through fifth grade build confidence and fluency in their reading by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or choose a library book and our dog friends will listen without correcting or judging. This creates a relaxing reading environment where readers can build their confidence and fluency. Back in September.

Kids Happy Hour Programs

Jammin' in your Jammies Family Story Time - 2nd Tuesday 6:15 - 6:45 p.m. for all ages. Jump into your jammies (optional) and come sing and dance and hear some great bedtime stories. Starts September 19. Drop-in/Pick up a ticket half hour prior to program start.

Library Lego Club - 4th Wednesday 6-7 p.m. Age: 5-8 year-olds
